The Board of Directors of Open Endowment has the responsibility to set policy and guide strategy for the endowment and its operations. Our directors bring a robust body of experience in risk management, capital markets, investment management, technology, and philanthropy. We are thankful for their volunteer service to the endowment.
Jersey City, New Jersey
Joanna Flanagan is a Senior Vice President in Compliance at TD Bank. Prior to that role, she was a Risk Manager for HSBC's Global Transaction Banking business focused on developing anti-money-laundering policy. Her 19 years of financial services experiences also includes years at Wells Fargo (Wachovia), Bank of America, and Kroll Associates. Joanna has a broad background in regulatory risk management, securities law, technology strategy, and investment banking. She was also a senior member of the strategy team for Bank of America's internet technology platform, and co-managed a $50MM private equity fund invested in emerging technologies in the financial services ecommerce space. Ms. Flanagan earned a BA from the University of Chicago in 1983 and MBA and JD degrees from the University of Texas in 1991. She is licensed to practice law in North Carolina.
Joanna cares about children's legal rights and the prevention of child abuse.
Palm Beach, Florida
Roger Hayes is President of PriMuni LLC in Palm Beach, FL. During his thirty year career in the fixed income industry, he build a rich body of experience in fixed income underwriting, sales and trading. He began his career in North Carolina and rose to the position of President of NationsBanc Capital Markets (a predecessor to Bank of America Merrill Lynch). As an active member of the municipal industry, Roger was a member of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board from 1994 to 1997 and served as the Chairman in 1996-1997. Roger was also Chairman of the Municipal Securities Division of the Bond Market Association in 2001. He is a 1968 graduate of Duke University, where he earned first team Academic All-American honors in football.
Taking to heart the old story comparing the outcome of charitably giving a fellow a fish to feed himself for one day versus teaching him how to fish, all of Roger's charitable interests favor education in one form or another.
Dave Douglass is currently a Principal at Berkeley Research Group. He specializes in litigation and business consulting matters requiring specialized finance and economic expertise. Prior to his work at Berkeley Research, Dave worked at Navigant Consulting and Charles River Associates. Dave also worked at Bank of America in the Strategic Alliances and Investments Group, and spent five years on active duty as an officer in the United States Army. He is a graduate of the University of Chicago (Booth) School of Business, the London School of Economics, and the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. Dave is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the state of Texas, a CFA charterholder, and a Certified Fraud Examiner.
Dave supports charitable medical causes and faith-oriented organizations.
David is a First Vice President of Strategic Projects at SunTrust Bank in Atlanta, GA. Prior to his work there, David spent twelve years at Bank of America in a number of strategy, innovation, and investment roles. He was the lead strategy analyst for the retail investment brokerage and helped to launch the retirement services businesses. As part of Bank of America's strategic investments group, David was directly involved in more than $14 MM of private equity investments into financial technology and capital markets firms. David has been active with the Chicago Urban League and Community Anchors in Charlotte, NC. In 2008, he served on the Charlotte Advisory Board for the John S & James L Knight Foundation. David has BA in Economics from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
David cares about education, urban renewal, and environmental sustainability.
